If Manager settings enable automatic connection Manager will automatically enter proper profile name and password. If automatic connection is disabled you will have to enter them manually. Pressing "Cancel" will abort connection: section options, manual backup or restoration as well as other options will be unavailable. However options of Manager itself are available without connection.
This description implies that Manager connects to Engine running on the same computer: it is called local connection. Backupper Professional allows to connect to Engine running on another computer available through the network (remote connection). Remote connection allows to setup and control Backupper Engine running on the dedicated server.
To perform automatic remote connection at Manager startup Manager settings should enable automatic connection at startup; remote computer name, profile name and password should be specified.
Note. As described in the "Start" help file, if Engine is not running local connection will automatically start it. However remote connection will only start Engine in the following cases:
|
Backupper can work in multiuser mode: Engine can have several Managers connected simultaneously. Actions performed by a Manager (for instance, creating or removing a section or a backup) will be automatically displayed in all other Maangers connected to that Engine: section appear/disappear, the log is updated etc.
Closing Manager will disconnect it from Engine. Engine itself will continue its work if its settings do not enable Engine to stop if no Managers are connected.
You can perform local or remote connection not only at Manager startup but afterward as well. Use "Connection" menu or the toolbar button to connect to Engine later.
It should be noted that calling up any connection command automatically breaks current connection to Engine.
