Creating groups and profiles
If you have created many sections, you can make controlling them more easy by classifying them into groups. In order to do it, you should create one or more groups and than move each section into proper group. You can also create groups in advance and than create each new section in proper group. To create a section in a certain group, select this group in the section tree before running section creation wizard.
To create a new group, you should:
- Select profile or group which should be parent for the new group; the number of levels in section hierarchy is not limited;
- Select "Create group..." command on "Sections" menu or on context menu; or click
button on the toolbar.
A dialog for setting up group parameters will appear. This dialog contains only one parameter, which specifies the name of the group. Type name in the editbox, e.g. "My reports" (do not use quotation marks), than press "خت" to create group. The name of the group must be unique, i.e. there cannot be two items (sections, groups or profiles) with the same name.
If Backupper is used by several persons on a computer, you may want to delimit access to Backupper sections. In this case you can create a separate profile for each person. A profile is actually a group with limited access to its sections and subgroups. The access to a profile can be limited by password.
When Backupper Engine is started for the first time, a profile with standard name "Admin" is created. All other profiles created in Backupper become "children" of this profile. To create a new profile, you should:
- Select profile or group which should be parent for the new group;
- Select "Create profile..." command on "Sections" menu or on context menu; or click
button on the toolbar.
A dialog for setting up profile parameters will appear. Specify profile name (e.g. the name of the user who will use this profile) and password; retype password in another editbox to ensure that it is typed correctly. The profile name must be unique, i.e. there cannot be two items (sections, groups or profiles) with the same name. If you do not want this profile to be protected with password, leave fields "Password" and "Confirm password" empty.
Note.
- When user enters profile in Backupper Manager, he/she has to type password in the connection dialog.
- If a profile is a child of another profile, all sections of the child profile are available in the parent profile. Therefore, setting password for the standard "Admin" profile is necessary, though not sufficient, for real access limitation.
